Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Electrical Engineer to join our San Francisco office. In this role, you will support the Lead Project Engineer or Project Manager on a variety of projects, providing high-level technical leadership. You will be responsible for electrical system design, project coordination, client interaction, and mentoring junior staff. You may also take on project management responsibilities for small to medium-sized projects.

This position requires a self-driven, solutions-oriented individual who is organized, detail-focused, and capable of working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Core Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical design using the latest engineering software.
  • Conduct voltage drop, short-circuit, breaker coordination, and Arc Flash studies.
  • Size overcurrent protection and feeders for electrical equipment.
  • Specify equipment using manufacturer catalogs (UPSs, Panels, Switchboards, Transformers, etc.).
  • Design emergency power supply systems (EPSS), including generators, ATSs, MTSs, in compliance with NEC Articles 700-702.
  • Use Title 24 compliance software (EnergyPro, COMCheck) for lighting applications.
  • Design electrical room layouts and systems across various sectors (commercial, life sciences, data centers, hospitals, etc.).
  • Limited experience with Medium Voltage (MV) design preferred.
  • Participate in client presentations and project startup documentation.
  • Develop project scopes, budgets, and schedules, track milestones and deliverables.
  • Conduct internal project kick-off meetings and manage interdisciplinary coordination.
  • Implement quality assurance procedures during the design process.
  • Review change orders, prepare budgets, and conduct life cycle cost analyses.
  • Maintain positive client relationships and act as primary contact when needed.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of drawings, specifications, and reports.
  • Assign duties and mentor project team members.
  • Review technical work for accuracy and coordinate across disciplines.
  • Establish electrical design standards and specifications.
  • Lead construction site observations, sustainability analyses, and feasibility reports.
  • Attend and participate in design and construction meetings.
  • Maintain client relationships post-project to support future opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with Building/Energy Codes and LEED standards.
  • Review submittals and respond to RFIs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Ideal Candidate

  • 8-10 years of relevant experience in electrical design.
  • Strong management and supervisory skills.
  • Deep knowledge of codes, standards, and engineering/construction processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, Revit, and engineering analysis software.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • PE Certification preferred.
  • BMS and LEED Accreditation are preferred.

Essential Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of California and local codes, NEC.
  • Proficient in Revit and BIM 360.
  • Working knowledge of SKM Power Tools or similar software.

Salary Range

This is a hybrid role based in San Francisco, CA. The expected salary range is $105,000 - $120,000 annually, depending on experience, education, and other relevant factors. As a multi-state employer, this range may vary for positions in other locations.
